FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

There are options for families who are not able to provide complete payment at the time of registration. If you have questions please direct them to the BRBHA Adminstrator admin@bowriverhockey.ca.

Below are a few of the programs available to families. Please note, these programs have varying deadlines and qualifications and require differing financial documents. It is recommended you familiarize yourself with requirements and gather documents prior to applying.

  • Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund https://assistfund.hockeycanadafoundation.ca/en/index.html  The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund is a $1 million fund that has been created to provide help to Canadians experiencing financial challenges as a result of COVID-19. The Assist Fund will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association, helping young Canadians get back on the ice in their communities.

  • Jumpstart https://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca  This program is for low-income families requiring financial assistance with sport registration fees. Grants are awarded up to $300.

Applicants are not restricted to the above mentioned programs. Those who do not qualify for funding through any program listed above are welcome to source out a different assistance program on their own.

It is expected that any remaining fees not covered by any/all assistance program(s) will be covered by the player’s family. This difference must be paid by Sept 1.

NORTH WEST CALGARY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (NWCAA) TRYOUTS:

In Calgary, elite or “Quadrant Hockey” is made up of 4 hockey associations for AA and AAA players, U13 through U18 age. Bow River feeds into the NWCAA. The cost to play quadrant hockey is substantially more than community as most teams have travel requirements, more practices and games, and off ice training. Players must tryout to make one of these teams. The cost associated with trying out is paid to NWCAA.

U13, U15 & U18 Players who are trying out for the AA/AAA NWCAA teams must register with both BOW RIVER and NWCAA through their respective websites

Due to the timing/overlap of NWCAA tryouts and BRBHA evaluations, Bow River needs you to register your player with us during our regular registration (June 15- July 31). Please select the $0 U13, U15 or U18 Hockey NWCAA Tryout option. By doing so, we reserve a spot for your player incase they are not successful at NWCAA.  Bow River will not collect any money from you until you are released from tryouts at NWCAA.  BRBHA community hockey fees will be due in full at the time of release from NWCAA.

*If you do not register with us during regular registration, the BRBHA will not be able to guarantee your player a spot.

Choosing the NWCAA Quadrant Tryout option in the Bow River registration process only tells BRBHA of your player's intent, it DOES NOT register your player with the NWCAA. You will need to contact the North West Calgary Athletic Association directly by visiting their website.

It is the player/parent's responsibility to inform Bow River's administrator whether or not they have made a NWCAA team. Timely communication of this information is crucial so that plans can be made to include the player (or not include as the case may be) in our evaluation process.
